I've always loved writing. It's like living life twice. At school and university I had encouraging teachers and at home in Yorkshire I had a book-mad mum. My first novel `Diamond' was set in Tower Hamlets where I taught. Luckily for me it won the Kathleen Fidler award. Since then I've had around a hundred stories and novels for children and young adults published and there are always more clamouring to be written. Now I live in Derbyshire and travel to Greece whenever I can. I go into schools for Book Days because telling and writing helps children find out who they are, and celebrates the world.
